Peter Baah Senior Sweeps Top Awards At Odos Cup 2026

Odos Athletic Football Club goalkeeper, Peter Baah Senior was named Overall Best Player and Best Goalkeeper of the tournament on Sunday, capping a campaign in which he kept three clean sheets and saved three penalties in a semi-final shootout.

Odos Athletic sealed the title with a 2-0 win over Sunyani Young Kotoko in the final, scoring in the last few minutes to end the competition unbeaten.

Peter Baah Senior conceded just one goal from open play, shutting out opponents in three of his side’s matches and producing a string of saves that repeatedly kept Odos Athletic in contention.

His decisive moment came in the semi-final, which finished goalless after extra time. In the resulting shootout, the goalkeeper denied three consecutive spot kicks — diving to his right, then to his left, before blocking the third with his body to send his club into the final.

The final itself was a tighter contest than the scoreline suggests. Sunyani Young Kotoko pressed for long spells after falling behind before half-time, but were unable to beat Baah Senior, and Odos Athletic added a second on the counter-attack late in the game to settle the tie.

Peter Baah Senior was called to the podium twice at the presentation ceremony, first to collect the Best Goalkeeper award and then the tournament’s Overall Best Player prize — a rare distinction for a goalkeeper.

“I was only watching the ball,” he said afterwards. “The award is for the whole team. They defended in front of me for every minute.”

Odos Athletic officials described the triumph as the club’s finest hour, while organisers praised the standard of play across the competition.
