15 Year Old Grant Aseidu Boateng Crowned Top Scorer of Maiden Odos Cup

Grant Aseidu Boateng, a 15-year-old forward with Odos Athletic Football Club, has been named the top scorer of the inaugural Odos Cup, finishing the tournament with two goals from three matches.

Boateng opened his account from the penalty spot in Odos Athletic’s meeting with Legacy Athletic Football Club, stepping up to convert from twelve yards. He added his second in open play against SAKA Football Club — a strike that ultimately settled the race for the golden boot in his favour.

Two goals proved enough in a competition where chances were tightly guarded and defences held firm. The eight-team tournament brought together sides including VIM Sporting Club, Young Kotoko Football Club and Lawgeess Sporting Club, alongside hosts Odos Athletic.

The Odos Cup was staged for the first time this year, conceived as a short, competitive format to bring local clubs together and give young players a platform to test themselves against unfamiliar opposition. On that measure, Boateng’s campaign is exactly the sort of story organisers had in mind — a teenager holding his nerve from the spot and finding the net from open play against established opposition.

Organisers have described the maiden edition as a success and indicated they intend to make the competition an annual fixture.

For Boateng, the award marks an early marker in what his club will hope is a long career, and one he will look to build on when the Odos Cup returns.
